Damn Tedly you do have some pretty toys!  I have to agree, that is the prettiest wood I have ever seen on a Safari grade.  Excellent Scope on her too!  Just an overall Classy set-up!!!  Love the rest, looks like it would cock a pumpgun and return to Natural POA, bet it cost a pretty penny.  Something budget Bud can only dream about! Excellent

Thanks, Bud!  On the Lone Star Field Products rest, they are made by a local machine shop near me, and although they aren't exactly cheap, it is very well designed and machined and I was happy to support a local manufacturer.  It sure comes in handy on some of my prairie rat shooting trips because it folds up into a fairly compact unit.

I am continually amazed with the quality of Rifledude's gun collection.  I guess I'll have to stop by for a visit some time.

I have not used Conetrol mounts, but I have seen them on some guns and they are beautifully made.  If I every buy a rifle with fancy wood, it will have Conetrol mounts on it.

If I recall correctly, Weatherby used to feature Conetrol mounts on their top-of the-line rifles.  That influenced me to try them.

I put Conetrol mounts on one of my rifles.  Smooth lines and good looks, yes, but they were a real pain to work with.  I took them off shortly thereafter, and haven't used Conetrols since then.

There are other good-looking quality mounts that are much easier to work with.

I think you are thinking of Buehler mounts, which were featured in Weatherby ads some time ago.  They were / are (not sure if they are still in business or not) very sleek looking rings, but they weren't projectionless like Conetrols.  They have spherical screw lugs at the top of the rings.

Conetrol does have a black and white pic of a Weatherby MK V shown in their ads, however.
