SUBSONIC .308 WIN 175GR HPBT MOLY'S JUST BOUGHT FROM HSM WONDERING WHICH BULLET THEY USE HAVE A FEW GUESSES.

Wondering if anyone has done any work up on velocity +- from them?

I use a 1:7 16" to meet the spec for the Lapua B416 which requires for subsonic loads a 1:200mm twist or faster and not more than 425mm length barrel so I can work the velocity down...

If you could give your length and twist as well as elevation and pressure/temp any other enviro. factors or variables you think I would need that would be fantastic...

Was unable to get data from overthere.

Thank you in advance. Just bought a couple of cases wondering if anyone already did the leg work.

Again thank you.

Also wondering about loads any of you use for .308 say 165+ -220... I currently use Trailboss, VV-C, Titegroup, Titewad, Clays, have tinkered with Red Dot and some others.  Get the best result with Trailboss and feel very comfortable because of bulk 9 oz per pound container gotta love it.

Might be even easier wt hthe moly bullets.
Even from a 26 inch barrel it's doable.
About 9-10.5 grains trailboss powder over a standard federal primer and 2.800 seating should give 1000 fps at 1100asl in the 308 win.
The longer barrel will emit less noise than the short barrel.
With the fast twist you have you should be able to drive 200-220 grain bullets with trailboss and 8-9 grains powder.
Effective range is about 300 meters.  Trajectory is an arch but it won't matter.

I have a suppressed 308 but haven't worked out loads for subsonics, my twist is not that fast.

Let us know how it works when you start actually playing with it.

RC,
Mine is a 1:12 ad I use 9.6gr Trailboss and 180SMK for 1015fps.
If yours is a factory rifle with slow twist you might look at the 165 grain flat base Hornady bullet with cannelure.  9.0 to 9.2 grains TB and a light crimp gives very stable and subsonic results.  Works great on dogs at 200 yards.

Any problems with jackets spinning off?

I've heard a few horror stories and thus have stuck with supersonic.  The gun likes 155-g Amax over 44.9 grains of IMR 4064

Heard the stories too.  Never from anyone who had it happen to them though.
Gotta figure if the 0 to 2800fps in 2 feet acceleration wouldn't remove a jacket  then 0 to 1000 fps in the  same 24 inches wouldn't be a problem.

Did some loads for a major metro SWAT team using 170 Hornady flat base and 9.2 of TB.
250 meter accurate and quiet as dead folks.  They report no issues and are running the load in 8 rifles.

I use N310 with 168 A-max moly coated.  Drill the primer pockets out to 9/64 use large rifle magnum and can get 1" groups at 250yds and can only here the firing pin smack the primer.  Using a "almost" stock Rem 700 SPS tactical

If you've never tried the N310, try it and you will never go back to anything else for subsonic.
