One piece rail with SS rings will put you where you need to be for the best price. Forgot to mention EGW this would be good with SS rings. http://swfa.com/EGW-Picatinny-Rail-1-Piece-Scope-Mount-P12397.aspx

Wow! Those badgers are $160. For a one piece picantinny rail? What they heck are they made of/with?

Warne, Talley, SS, and the list goes one. What do you intend to do with this rifle? Target? Hunt only? Tactical?
Two piece base will be fine if you planning on keeping all your shooting below say 600yds with a set of good rings, SS comes to mind (SS also comes with reducers so your ability to mount more scopes without having to buy new rings increases)
One piece STEEL base if you looking for precision accuracy out to say 800yds and above.
Now you can get good accuracy at far distances with a two piece base but more long range shooters use one piecers for a reason. Either way a good rule of thumb just like for everything else is you get what you pay for. A $20 base and $20 ring setup isn't going to maintain itself like a good $50-$60 base and rings. Prices can keep going up there too, look at badger and leupold mark 4 tactical setups. |

I use the Burris 2 piece bases and the tactical rings from swfa. The rings are almost identical to the Burris XTR rings and hold the scope just as good for close to half the price.
I use this set up on 2 model 10fp, 1 110fp and a 112vlp low rings for 42mm scope and the scopes stay nice and low for a good cheek weld. Works for me.

I have a Savage 10 FCP-K on the way in .308. What do you recommend for rings and bases or picantinny base and setup for a scope? I appreciate the advice.
