Two weeks ago I spent some time in the African bush. The area is about 200km north of Johannesburg, called the Waterberg area. Typical bushveld as we call it. Note the game in the thick bush and imagine stalking close to get a shot! In some cases game are in the open veldt with 200yds shots possible.
Enjoy!!!

Wouter,
What is the "deer" with horns that make the forward shaped "c"? It is between what looks like Dink Dink and the Zebra. It has sorta like an Orx's horns but pointed in the wrong directions.
What "flavor" wildebeast is that?
Also I'm trying to figure out what is to the right of the warthog past the tree. It is just a small deer far away or something standing on its legs?

Yes a waterbuck. Ed the African American knows his stuff!!!
A waterbuck has glands that exude an oily secretion to make its coat water resistant. This smells a bit and gives a rancid taste to anything it comes in contact with. So when skinning such an animal extreme care must be taken to keep hands, skin and hair AWAY from the meat.
It is quite a large antelope.

Silver, the Dink dink are actually female impala or impala ewes.
The wildebeest are blue wildebeest (as opposed to the smaller and blacker black wildebeest.)

Silver, well spotted. That is of all things a black backed jackal. The tree is a wild fig tree, which was dropping fruit. Underneath a lot of animals had gathered, mainly warthog. Unbelievably two jackal were scrounching around.
Here is another pic.....look to the right of the warthog and you will see the jackal.
Imagine pitching a tent under that tree!!!!!!!
