Neat story. I was out shooting last night as always. my wife popped out of the house with my son's dimond edge. The one with blue and orange strings. She say "do you think I can shoot this one"( she has never showed any interest in bows at all ever). I said well lets give it a go and put all my stuff down. I showed her how to put on the release and how to hold the bow.She tryed to pull it back but a little to much for her. I told her to try again and I held the bow from the side and her arm she was pulling back with and it went back easy with my help and she could hold it back. after telling her how to aim and relax and all the other stuff SHE shot 25 times or so and it got dark on us. So now If she still wants to she will be getting her first bow really soon and it will be pink more then likley. just tought it was neat she wanted to do it with out me asking. So now all but my 3 yr old is shooting bows and rifles( but he wants to bad). LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

FANTASTIC!  I really wish my wife would show an interest in archery!

I'VE GOT A GREAT IDEA...  when you get a bow for her, get some images of "Lightning McQueen" and "Mater" of the movie "Cars" film dipped into the riser finish!  That way, it will always remind her of your family's mutually favorite topic.  Subliminally, that will create a Zen-like state of mind, which will then result in improved shooting.  After all, the mental aspect of archery is just as important as the mechanics of proper shooting form, release, and range estimation skills!

UMMM NO, I think she would beat to a pulp with it ,then ask If she can have one made of sea shells.

Thats a good idea for my little one as he wants to shoot to. HUMMM

Shot it some more this week. It's a very nice shooting rig. I just started shooting with a release, and it's really improved my accuracy. Why did I shoot fingers for so long?

NO, I would take and get a 5 pin fiber sight( Toxonics® SolidLock™ Bow Sight with Harmonic Dampener) is what I went with and get a new drop away rest a (Quality Archery Designs Ultra-Rest Pro HD Drop-Away Arrow Rest) . get these and bring it to me or take it to a proshop and super tune it and you will be good to go. you might have to play around with the arrow to find out witch one has the right spine and the draw length and the arrow lenght. and tip weight you will be shooting.

Sounds good.  I will do that.  I have been thinking of the whisker biscuit thing, hows it for an arrow rest?

Its okay for a newbie. My son shoots one and doe good with it. When he gets a smoother pull he will up grade to a drop away. The whiskers will wear the fletching out faster than normal but they are good.

The brace hight should be right at 7 for that bow and I would think if its tight all the way down around 63 at the most. Just make sure they check can alignment and the tiller, beger hole with D-loop. They are simple to set up and paper tune.

Brace height is the measurement of the distance in line from the lowest point in the grip to the string.

Get serious!  Bowshooting/hunting is GREAT.  Be nice if you could find a local pro shop to deal with.  Start asking around.

7" @ 63#.  Same as mine! That bow ought to be a smooth shooter.

If you bought the new string, I'll send you a guy who makes them and makes really good ones.It wouldn't take but maybe an hour to swap strings, rst, sight and  get the bow set up for you, paper tune, and sighted in for 45 yards with the new sight. If your able to come down give me a week notice I have some traviling going on and need to see how the schedule is.

it will be a few months or so but i may do that before the fall.  I just called a shop that charges $75.00 and hour for bow work!  i'd rather drive down visit and all versus paying that.  Even if in the long run it will be more it would be worth it.
