OK Brady… I have put my trust/confidence in you… PLEASE Send me the Warne scope rings that are identical to the Zeiss Victory 1" permanent rings currently on backorder. After seeing the close tolerance between the rail and the 28mm scope (complete with bird $hit) mounted on the identical weapon that I intend to mount the Zeiss 3X9x40 conquest, I think that you are absolutely correct when you say that I should go with the Medium rings to be on the safe side. I look forward to receiving my Zeiss Conquest and Warne Rings (Matt Finish/medium size) soon. Thanks again for all your assistance… SWFA will be my first choice for any/all future purchases. |

PS. I’m surprised/amazed that the "Bird $hit" spattered on the scope drew more attention/was more entertaining than the pictures I took/shared of that awesome California Blacktail buck on the link below! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2029510&id=1247848051&l=bc68d170ff |

That IS an awesome blacktail, Dirtdog! Was the pic taken on your land? Don't you have to have a Facebook account in order to see those pics, though? That may be the reason why people haven't commented; they might not be able to access them. |

Never mind; I read your comments underneath the photos and saw that you took the pics at Yosemite Nat'l Park. I visited Yosemite about 10 years ago. Beautiful place!
However, are you sure that's a blacktail? I could be mistaken, but I believe the deer in Yosemite are all mule deer and that blacktails don't range that far east. Still a nice deer regardless, but not world class if it's a mulie. Edited by RifleDude - March/18/2010 at 09:02 |

Yes... I'm sure that it was a Blacktail! I have over 100 pictures that I shot of him and the other bucks he was feeding with that I took from every angle. I have been offered some monetary compensation for a few of the shots that I was lucky enough to capture that day, but have not posted that they want for a article being written. Another individual attempted to get as close as I did and for his efforts was aggressively chased by the fork horn bedded in one of the shots... |

Were the pics taken in Yosemite Nat'l Park as noted in your description? If so, all the deer in the park are mule deer. The range for blacktails is Northern CA, along the central CA coast, OR, and WA. They don't extend into the center of the Sierra range. They don't range as far east as Yosemite.
See the wildlife section of the link below: http://www.yosemite.national-park.com/info.htm#wil California mule deer look a lot like blacktails, and they are a close relative of black tails, so it is easy to confuse the two. They are even frequently referred to as "black tail deer," when in fact they are a different subspecies. True blacktail deer prefer the rain forests on the western side of the Cascades and Sierras, especially in the far northwest. Edited by RifleDude - March/18/2010 at 22:12 |

Hey Brady, I got the scope/rings as promised... they were waiting from me when I return from the airport. Unfortunately, the medium rings were not quite enough to clear the rail either... I will keep them for future use instead of returning them for exchange... Do you have a set of the Warne rings like he ones you originally sent in high? If so, please send them my way. I leave in the morning for Texas for the week, so no need to overnight them, but it would be awesome if I had them when I return on Friday. Thanks, Kevin
