Good thing about a scope made in China is that it makes a good inpromptu hammer after it breaks.

I'm not sure on the Voretx Crossfire, but it is a good scope for the money. For the cost of the units, I assume they are made in China. I can't find it on the box, though.

I've had good luck with the 2 Simmons I've used as well as the 1 Tasco I've used. I have a lot of hunting friends that use Simmons and a couple that use Tasco's. While they do every once in a while have one fail they mostly seem to have decent luck with them. I think for most hunting they work decently however, their glass is no where near as clear as a higher priced scope.

THE best chinese scopes out there are made by the company " SUM DUM YUNG FOO".
This company says they have THE best glass out there AND they are so inexpensive, why they're almost giving them away. You can pretty much configure your own settings as far as variable power and its included in the price. I was going to call them to thank them for this wonderful product they put out BUT, I couldn't find an address or phone number. They are probably just being modest....

Does anyone know for sure where the lenses for the Leupy scopes come from?
Japan?
Taiwan?
South Korea?
Philippines?
Red China?

Some day we're going to regret doing business with those intellectual-property thieving, counterfeiting, currency-manipulating, polluting, human-rights-abusing "friends" of ours. It's hard to avoid, but I've really tried not to buy anything Chinese-made if I can help it.

I know what you mean Jon but buying anti china is un-doable. I wish there was more USA made stuff that we could get, but besides IOU's, the US hasn't produced much here lately.

So, getting back to cowski's original question -- if we can still get there from here -- what is the best China-made scope?

Hard to say what the best Chinese scope is. Their quality control is all over the place. You can get lucky and get a good one of about any of the Chinese stuff, but more than likely you'll get what you pay for.
There is something to be said for products made in a homogeneous society as the best person for the job has the job rather than filling quotas and having to put up with poor performers due to diversity directives and union intimidation. If American companies could hire the most capable/qualified person for every position then we could once more make the world standard in products. Sadly this is not possible. Rant off. |

Aside from the political question, Chinese optics in general have improved vastly since their first scopes started showing up over here--and they're improving every year. Their optics are getting right up there with the rest of the world, and there's no reason they can't do the mechanical stuff as well. If they make scopes as good as the Hawke and Zen Ray binoculars then their scopes will be competing very well.

The best Chinese made scopes I have seen so far are marketed by Hawke. Hawke Endurance 30 are their better hunting scopes and Sidewinder 30 Tactical are the tactical ones.
I have seen a few samples of them and they seem pretty good. ILya
