I am going to pickup a Tikka T3 Lite in .243 and looking for a scope and ring suggestions. I will be using the rifle for varmints and whitetail's. My first thought is a Bushnell Elite 4200 in 3x9x40

You can get a heckuva deal right now on that scope...
http://swfa.com/Bushnell-3-9x40-Elite-4200-Rifle-Scope-P6910.aspx You'd have to spend a lot more money to get anything better. |

I'm partial to the Burris Signature series rings, easy to install and available in double dovetail or Weaver (Signature Zee rings) style.

Yep...........I guess any scope will do on a 243..........if I had that gun in a 300 Win Mag, I think I would put a TWO POUND SCOPE on it !!!!

I have Talley and Warne on my Tikkas, prefer the Talley most.
The rings that came with, garbage; definitely get new rings. It is a great gun, you will be most pleased. The 4200 will be fine. |

I hear ya Ed. The T3 lite is a great gun in smaller calibers, but gets a bit brutal when you get bigger. I agree with everyone else about the 4200. "with aftermarket rings" Should make for a nice shooting rig River, keep us posted. |

I have a Tikka T3 Lite SS with the Bushnell 3-9x40. I would not change it. I used the rings that came with the gun. I have not had a problem with them. I use Talleys on my Remingtons and really like them. Just my 2 sheckels.

I am new to rifles, so just wondering the difference between double dovetail and weaver and if one is preferred over the other?

If you should end up going with the Bushnell, you can get a jacket from them for $15 shipped for buying a Rainguard coated product. The order form is on the Bushy website.

These are dovetail rings(silver so you can examine them better):
They fit this type base (picked this item as it's easier to examine):
These are Weaver style rings:
They fit this type of base:
Both setups are STRONG and will serve you well. But in the past yrs ALOT of guys are going to these:

If I go with the Talley mounts, how do I know if I need low medium or high?

You can contact SWFA and tell them what rifle/scope combo you have or are planning to get and they'll tell you which Talley's you'll need:

My rifle is in and I am going to pick it up on Friday. I have the Talley Low Rings and wondering if they get mounted in a certain direction as I have seen them mounted in both directions.
