I don't touch these types of questions... total subjectivity.

As far as hunting scopes go I don't think it takes much money to get a good one. I like the following two scopes and they can easily be had for less than $300.
Burris Fullfield II with ballistic plex
Nikon Buckmaster with BDC

That's the great thing about this imo. It's not a competition so much as it is what each has experience with. I'd hope most of the people knew something or had trigger time with their selections. My first $500+ scope was just purchased 2 weeks back for my custom Remington700 build. I went with the Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x Tac model after A LOT of research. Until this point i had used mainly the 200-400 variety. I'm super excited to get the rifle (still about 2 months wait) and try everything out. |

I've been pretty happy with the scope I've mentioned. My other favorite scope under 1K would be a bushnell elite 3200 10x. It'd be tough to use for hunting inside 100 yards because it's a fixed 10x, but if it was a long range hunt I'd consider that scope also.
I buy good scopes that hold their zero, but I don't spend more than I feel that I need to.

With the Swaro PH line and the Kahles CL line able to be had for less than 1000$ for many of the scopes, here are my choices...
Swaro PH Kahles CL Nothing else to compare for that price... My .02.
