I have been using a 6x20x50 Whitetail Classic, Simmons, on a .22 LR and I like most of the features of the scope for my style of plinking (lots of light, mil dots are heavy, side focus and short range focus, easy elevation and windage adjustment, and price). Cons are it is critical in the eye relief and mounting range. I am considering another one for a .308 bull barrell (240 rounds of plinking a year) and I would like to know what other people have broken on this particular model. I do not use the elevation and windage adj. when shooting. I use the dots for hold off. I am not looking for alternative suggestions at this time, I am just doing research on this particular model. If anyone has personal experience with this model I would like to hear it.
Thank you,
Dale

Please help shooters. Surely someone has worn out or broken one of these or even another power Whitetail classic. I just need some feed back on what goes wrong with these scopes with moderate plinking and target shooting. Not much knob turning just shooting. I am thankfull of any personal experience.

I have a 6.5-20x50 WTC that I keep as a spare but it has AO and not side focus. It's not a bad scope but the original had to go back because it had parallax issues. The replacement lives in my storage shed as a spare. Personally I think you're better off investing in a better scope but it beats heck out of a BSA.

Thanks for the reply. It is easy to tell this is my first posting. The scope does have
AO and not side adjusting. I confused it with my Nikon. I do have better scopes
but I was looking for information about what breaks on these scope and if it will hold
up to .308 plinkin without me twisting on the elevation and windage knobs.
Thanks,
Dale Ramey

Thanks Sholling, I understand a parrallax problem on one. Someone else has surely
broken another Whitetail Classic (50mm) somewhere or else these are pretty reliable. I am planning on buying one for a .308 plinking rifle unless someone says for sure they won't hold up to 240 rounds per year. I will be using the mil dots for hold over and under, not
cranking the knobs.
Thanks,
Dale

We always had pretty good luck with those scopes. i think they beat the heck out most if not every other $100 scope. I don't think you will have any issues with the scope at all.
