I have a new Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe in 257 Wby.  It's a high gloss rifle and I'm looking for a gloss finish scope.  I've only been able to find two.

Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 for $480
Sightron SII Big Sky 3-9x42 for $380 + $75 rebate = $315

I have never looked at a Sightron SII Big Sky, but for $170 less it seems like a no-brainer.

Thoughts?  Any other gloss options I'm missing?

I'd take the Sightron Big Sky...it's a very nice scope.

There is also the Pentax 3-9x40 Lightseeker XL that has a gloss finish for $438.95 at SWFA.  I believe that the Pentax scopes are made by Burris.

Thanks for the feedback.  It looks like there are 4 gloss options in my price range.

Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 for $480
Sightron SII Big Sky 3-9x42 for $315
Pentax Lightseeker XL 3-9x40 for $440
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 for $199

The Pentax looks really interesting, but I don't think I can justify the extra $125 over the Big Sky.  I think I'm going with the Sightron.

Thanks, Steve

Thanks, I'm excited to try it.

I also just noticed that SWFA is selling the matte 3-9x42 Big Sky for $320 + $75 rebate, so it's only $245!  That's right there with the Vortex Vipers that are on closeout.

I might have to pull the trigger on a gloss and a matte Big Sky!
