Anyone know the actual weight of a set of 1" Talley LW rings and the weight of Talley steel QD rings, both would be for a Rem 700? I'm trying to figure out how much weight is saved by going with LW's. Thanks,
Sam

Do you need QD? (That will add weight.)
How heavy is the gun? The weight difference is noticeable - but only when holding just the rings. Add in a scope and gun and the weight difference will be negligible unless it is a feather-weight gun. If it is a mountain gun, get the LW; if anything else (or if QD is really needed) get the steel. Just an opinion. Are they going on a heavy recoil gun? |

I was looking at a 338 win mag http://hillcountryrifles.com/catalog/rifles-ready-to-ship_2/custom-special-338-win-mag_101 at Hill country Rifles and noticed it weighs 8 lbs and was thinking that with Talley LW's and a Swaro Z3 it might make the weight more manageable.

I'd want the steel rings, weight will be pleasant.

+1 I have the fixed (steel) on two of my rifles and their great. I'll put the LW's on my next rifle which will probably be a "mountain style" rifle. Like RC said, there's a noticeable difference between the Talley steel and lightweight alloy rings when their just resting in the palm of your hand. |
