Gang, I'd like to mount one of my recently purchased shotcams on my 1911 SA long slide. Is there a clean way to do this? I can cut a grove on each side of the lower and that'll secure it in place but I really don't want to go to that extreme if there's something better out there. I'd appreciate your ideas.

I also have a 9mm Tanfoglio (CZ 75 clone) but that potential fit is not even close. If all else fails I might just have to trade for a Glock 45ACP I guess.

before I went hacking away on that very nice 1911, why not look into mounting a short piece of picatinny rail on the lower frame? All you need is two or three notches, having the holes drilled shouldn't be to expensive. Just my two cents though.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Caspian makes rails from various materials. Drilling and tapping is required.

billy, I appreciate your thoughts but hacking Whacko? Give me a bit more credit than that would you? Non, and I mean none of my arms are hacked upon as I believe you can honestly judge a man's character by the condition of his arms.

I would leave that .45 alone, find another pistol to put it on.  Some things just are NOT intended to take pictures.  No way I would try to put a camera on that pistol.  Just me..

Keep that as is and add a Glock to the collection you deserve it. Cool

The truth be told 1911s is what I love shooting most, to include for defensive purposes, and since this LS is no collector's item but a darn good shooter I was scratching my butt out loud for coming up with a possible project Smile.

BTW, I like shooting Glocks but I hate looking at them (I know I'm nuts...), plus I reload, so that's the reason I don't own one. If I buy one I'd have to shoot it considerably to become proficient with it, which means reloading and I hear they don't do well with reloads but maybe it's time to rethink all this. Maybe I ought to sell 2 of my 3 shotcams and make enough profit to buy laser grips for my LS outright, while installing the 3rd shotcam on one of my ARs. That makes more sense but it's not a project Loco

Let me ponder on this a while....

I don't reload it myself, but I've shot A LOT of reloaded ammo through my glocks.  They shoot it just fine.  I've had one jam in 10 years... my fault, I was trying "ghetto shooting" and limp wristed it...

Dan, "limp wristed" and your Taz image just don't fit well together. Is this why you became a kickboxer? BanditoBanditoBandito

Glock or Springfield XDM, but don't defile the 1911.  Somethings are just not worth it.

If you like 1911s. buy another one.  There are a bunch of them that have rails already.

Keep this one as is.  It is pretty (and this is from a guy who does not like 1911s).

Hey guys, why don't you tell me how you really feel about this!! Defile, foolish, death to the infidel......Baby baby feelings have run red hot on this hea subject. Actually I played with the mentioned SA today, seems to be a good product and I did like it well enough to where I could probably own one but I hated the always on double action trigger pull. What's the deal with gun companies now days? Why do the details seem to be so unattainable? My LS is right at 3 lbs and my 67 Gold Cup is at 1.75 lbs trigger pull. Details, they make the world go round don't ya know!

In my point of view defiling would be to park these fine pistols of mine for someone else to enjoy when I'm dead and gone while I saddle for "modern" pistols so as to fit a camera contraption on it. The jury's still out on this one!

Koshkin, with all due respect, what don't you like about 1911s?

It's called liablity...  That's why you see most trigger pulls above five pounds or more.

Ask yourself what would a camera show you? It would block the the sight plane if it showed anything usefull.   I normally do a mission statement when I buy a gun that defines what role the gun should have, and not have.  That keeps spending on track.
