Hey everyone,
I've had a remington police 26" for some time and I have been waiting to buy optics for it. I've attached a badger ordinance rail and after doing some searching and feeling overwhelmed, I was curious what you guys think would be the best bang for the buck. The number one problem is I'm getting married in May and applying to Med School in fall so money is a little bit tight to say the least. I want to only spend 300 dollars but I can spend 400 if the calling is there. I have never distance shot so am completely new to the sport. I will also only be shooting up to 500 yards maximum at paper products.

My second question is what would be a good web site to access information about all the different aspects and language of distance shooting?

Side note I apologize for originally posting this in the target section.

10x SS or 16x SS until you can afford better.  Nothing else comes close in your price range

You are referring to the SWFA SS 10x42 and 16x42 correct?

Thanks for the help SVT. What would be some good rings? Which magnification do you think would be better? So anything like barska and konus would be a waste?

I would get the SS 10x rear focus, and get a TPS 20 MOA base and super low TPS 30mm rings.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

+1 on this, but the 20MOA base isn't needed if you dont' plan to shoot out that far, the SuperSnipers have enough elevation travel that a regular 0MOA base will work fine.  I had the 10X and the 16X before.  For general use, the 10X is a better fit. IF 99% of your shooting will be beyond 2-300yds, the 16X will fit better if not then i'd go 10X

The reason to geteh 20 moa is when he upgrades to something else he will most likely need it.  No need to set yourself up to have to buy two bases
