The blog says it is just short of the record, but it does not say which, so it means nothing.
The world record is somewhere around 74 inches, this does look close.

The guy has his head down to be out of the pic...not doing a good job.
The article says it dressed out 268kg or 590 lbs. So double that for live weight. The average meat kudu weighs around 130-150 kg(300lbs). The big boys go 190 to 205 kg. (around 400lbs). So it is a monster by all accounts.
Biggest I have shot dressed out to 198 kgs. Biggest I have seen 205 kgs.

No the hunter pays X amount per animal meat and trophy are his, depends from farm to farm what amount he pays. Some farms we pay a flat rate whether the animal is considered trophy or not( farms I like), on others the farm owner has a meat price and a trophy price. Most farm owners consider Rowland Ward minimum as a trophy. And then you get a few greedy buggers who charge you per inch on the horns, this can get expensive though. We once got a price from a farmer that worked out too R25000 for a 60 inch Kudu, thats $3500. Thats steep either way you look at it. Most of the meat shot by an international hunter, will end up being taken to the nearest butcher and sold to him. Farm owners make money twice from one hunter, it's only in country's north of South Africa and Namibia that the meat will given to local villages.
