Does anyone have anything negative to say about the m 223 1-4x24? Looks like a good deal.

Scott, Inside of 200 yards I think you will be very pleased with how well the Nikon M-223 1-4 does the job. One thing to remember, it is not a fine crosshair for punching holes in paper, it has the Point Blank Reticle that is great for fast target acquisition and making each shot count. We have a ball using ours shooting multiple steel targets at different distances. Here's a pic of one of the 2 I have on a Smith and Wesson MP15-22.
Drop me a note if if you have any further questions Scott. |

Thanks for the info. The point blank reticle looks a little big for my purposes. I plan on putting it on an ar 10 for awhile, so I'm going with a bushnell E 4200 1-4x. Too bad they don't put the circle bdc on the 1-4x, oh well. Thanks again. S.B.

Actually they do Scott, It is an item that can only be ordered from competitior. You can use Nikon's Spot On web site so that you can use the BDC circles correctly on your AR 10. I had a M-223 3-12 x42 BDC on my AR 10 last year for deer season. Worked great!

If you think you want extra magnification even one time, go with the 2-8. Are you looking at the BDC or the Rapid Action Turret? I'm a big fan of the BDC reticle but one of my favorite scopes is
Nikon's M-223 3-12x42SF with the Rapid Action Turret so you can easily dial in the distance. Works great for .223 ,55 gr. projectile with a MV of 3240 fps. Any questions feel free to drop me a note. Bart ps-love the avatar!

Ive tried the BDC i actually have a 3-9 prostaff on a bolt gun which i like. i have the 4-16 monarch with nikoplex on a AR for long range and target. and had tried the coyote 4.5-14 and the buckmaster 4.5-14 with BDC but sold both of them i didnt like them for trying to group shots worked good for hunting. but not what i was after. i also had a old monarch in 2-7 which in hind sigth should have kept but i just sold it and bought aa 4-12 prostaff nikoplex but think i will look for a better glass. the prostaff is crisp and clear but the length of the 4-12 was to long and i dont like the turrets. so again looking for a short light scope to plink, target, deer hunt, which deer are around 100 yrds. i am sure the 1-4 will be spot on but if i go to the range it is nice to see the hits at 100-200 since i dont have a spotting scope yet.

I'd go 2-8x on that M223
I used 1-4x 4200 IR for a while but ended up going with a 2-7x viper from the promo. I really looked at the 2-8 M223 because its basically a monarch with turrets, but I think I probably wont need elevation adjustment on the 223 for my application. I really like the 2-7x range and its still compact

I bought one of these mounts a year ago, and finally am getting the scope.
Do you think this scope mount is decent? Can it hold the scope securely over the long haul? Or should I get traditional mount and rings?

Turn, The Nikon M-223 AR Scope Mount will do all you want it too. I have yet to here from one person who has had a problem with them. 1 piece billet Aluminum so they are strong and lite weight. They are made by an experienced Mount manufacturer here in the US. I have swapped out all my other AR specific (2) mounts for this mount. Just FYI, I did it before I started doing some work for Nikon, not because.
I hope this helps? |
