I had a house that was built around 1877. It still had piping for gas lighting in places, as well as some original wiring when electricity was installed. Not to mention the addition that was made to the back of the house, who knows when, and it was in a historic district. Getting work done on that house was a real pain in the wazoo.

I was glad to sell that place. I still have nightmares that I still live there.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Yeah amazing what you find...

Back when the place was built it had communal heating as did lots of blocks but apparently there was a communal cooling system as well that pumped freon pipes to ice boxes in people's individual flats... presumably this was before self contained fridges were available...?

Amazing the stuff you learn

Mornin gentsCoffee

Cloudy, damp, and in the 30s.

Mrs. BF found a deer leg in the front yard this AM. I said that explains Trina's panting all night. Deer farts to follow.
Mrs. BF said Punkin (our Pom) acted like she had just found the crown jewels and didn't want to give them up.
Mrs. BF put the leg in the garbage, but I told her the dogs would just go get another one.
The stench, I mean the story continues.

Be interesting to know who the communal heating worked. Who controlled the thermostat?

The lady in the first floor apartment of my old building controlled the thermostat for the first two floors. She was a big woman and liked it cool. Every fall, I'd have to tell her to turn the heat on.

I think in most schemes they just run it. Our Development is 86 flats for example

Mornin gentsCoffee

Just above freezing here, cloudy, windy, damp, and temps going to upper 50s.

I wont have a chance to hunt until after Thanksgiving.

Got a bumper crop of relatives coming for Thanksgiving and I have to try to take the W and K out of our rec room so we can seat guest there, along with the house cleaning while Mrs. BF cooks. I'm in over my head.

Courage brother, do not stumble, there's a light to guide the humble, but it's been switched off due to budget cuts...

Mornin’ Scrummy, The old Peddler did not pull the trigger on Saturday but Mrs. Peddler did. She harvested a nice 7 point buck with her 6.5 Creedmoor. She made me smile, the shot was about 180 yards and the buck went maybe 15 yards and piled up. I emailed a pic to Skylar and asked him to post it for me.

Mornin gentsCoffee

I tried to post Saturday about the 4 deer I saw while I was working around the place, and the 35 to 50 mph winds we had that day, but I had been Boozerand hit the wrong key and lost it all. I didn't feel like typing it all over.

Clear skies here. 27* on the hill, 25 in the valley, and 29* in town.
