HI ALL

I'm from South Africa, Hunting here is pretty much part of our Culture. Looking to buy a new scope but have no idea what to buy, so I narrowed it to two: NIKON MONARCH OR SIGHTRON SII 3/4/5 - 12/14/16 x 42/44/50 these are my basic options? Really need some help on the subject, we shoot anything from 110yrds to 400yrds on open plains.
Looking to put the scope on a WIN M70 30-06 sportster ? Any feedback on this rifle? Thank you.

the BS has much better glass than the SII or monarch.

the 3-12X42 MD with a $75 rebate would be what i pick out of the to names

I think that I would lean towards the Monarch.  Granted it has been a while since I have looked through them, but the Monarch looked better to me glass wise in the Monarch.  If it was the SII Big Sky, I might give that the nod ahead of the Monarch.

have you looked at vortex? i don't know if you can get them in SA, but the viper is a great scope, and they have the best CS in the business.

What were the problems?

I've owned and still own several Nikon rifle scopes and binos and have yet to have one single problem.
If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

If you're looking to stay within budget, Go with the Sightron SII BS.  Their CS is great if you need it.  Most likely you won't.

Internal water droplets/condensation/heavy fogging blurring in general.
Their action binos are a total joke.

Bushnell Elite

Zeiss conquest

Big Sky

I think the Busshy is the best hunter in the group, with the rain guard & fire fly & decent CS & 5x mag box it gets my nod.I do however feel that the Zeiss has the best glass of the group[but not by much]
it loses in the mag box.

FWIW, the Sightron BS also has a hydrophobic coating on the lens.

I also have several Nikon products and have had zero problems with any of them. Plus I have a pair of the Action binos as well and they are just fine considering the price point.

Of the ones you list, Sightron S2 Big Sky and Zeiss Conquest are your best options.
The SII you mentioned is pretty much the only Sightron SII scope i really do not like.  That configuration should have parallax correction of some sort.  Either, Big Sky models are a notable step up over the regular SII.

I had a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 and I exchanged it for Sightron SIII (the same glass as SII BS ) and I don´t regret! Wink
