would anyon e care to venture an opinion as to which of these two scopes would be better for long range paper punching. Id love to get a March or other but reality intervenes. As far s my limited research allows, these are comparable and both seem to have observable support systems. Id consider Leupy if its in a similar $ and capacity.

The Bushnell will be better optics. For long range, glass quality will really help.

Id pick the Bushnell but I would look real hard at the used Zeiss Conquest on Samplelist.com

Sorry for the lack of brain function. Im looking at the Burris 8-82 and the Bushnell 4.5-30. The focus for both of these is 600 & 1000yd. shooting. My experience here is moderate., but long time short range bench rest. Im leaning toward the Burrris as seemingly less stressed.

Both are reasonable scopes, although I ahve to admit that for target shooting in the sub-$1k price range, I would be looking at Sightron S3 scopes instead.
They offer better image quality at high magnification and more adjustment range. ILya

K-I will admit to being overwhelmed with the overabundance of optical firms that have sprung up over the last decade or so. I have little feeling for their substance or stability in our current environment. The possible significant factors I see; the S111 is a 1/4 click, where the Burris claims 0.125( Ihave been lied to before). The S111 is a 56mm, my personal feeling is that's too much of a good thing. 50mm scopes still seem OK. My general feeling and leaning is toward the Burris--long history, US to a degree, size,$. Maybe next year I can afford a March. I thank you for your input and hope Ive not been short on respect.

Go with what you are comfortable with. Keep in ind though that the recently discontinued Burris Black Diamond 8-32x50 has about 40MOA of adjustment range available and Bushnell 4.5-30x50 has 50MOA of adjustment range available. Neither is particularly well suited for 1000 yard shooting unless you have a very flat shooting cartridge. As for the objective lens size, if you need 30x of magnification, then you most definitely want the larger objective lens. If you do not need 30x and prefer to stay with a 50mm objective, I would strongly suggest you look at 6-24x50 or similar scopes. You'll likely get a better scope for your money. ILya

K- I have done some more digging(research?) and Im beginning to understand your advice. I have done a turn about and am aiming for the 70 moa adjustment range. The other attributes seem to be within accommodation. Thank you
