Get to play with scopes while you're there.

I'd look real hard at the used Conquest with Rapid Z 800 I have one and like it a lot.

Drew, I have a 7mmSTW (was going to bid on the one you got until I saw you were after it).  Truly, an OUTSTANDING caliber/cartridge.  One of the most accurate I have ever fired...
I've put three rounds in 0.74 in at 500 yards with it.  Fairly rapid fire, uncorrected for wind.  Mine is a Win Model 70, pre-64 action Laredo, but the whole 7mmSTW concept is awesome.  Lots of room to experiment with loads, super ballistics, lots of bullet weights/type to play with.  Of course, there was once a guy who loaded all my exotic stuff for me.  He got a divorce and I have not heard from him since.  He was a great munitions maker AND a great shooter.  I really miss him, wonder what happened to him.
Anyway, I KNOW you are going to love that rifle.  If you ever have any accuracy problems, PM me.  There are some fairly easy fixes available for Ruger #1.  You may never hunt with anything else again.

Thanks for letting me walk away with it KB.  I am hoping that with the work that has been done on the gun already I won't have to do anything to it, but I may call anyway.  I will say that the STW is one of the few 7mm rounds that I have even considered.  I have a hard time thinking it will displace my love for the 300 Mag, but it might if it is as good as you say.

Right now I am looking at the 160 gr and up bullets.  I would love to see if I could push a 175 @ 3000+ out of that 28" tube.  I need Trigger29 to make me a few bullets for it.

As for a scope, not sure yet, but I am sure SWFA will get me hooked up right.  Maybe it is time for a Z6 or equivalent.

Ruger No. 1 Falling Block
Action: Lever
Caliber: 7mm STW
Overall Length: 44”
Barrel: 28” Custom Barrel by Pete Pieper
Weight: 8.5lbs
It also has a custom set trigger set right under 1 lb.

Now to send them the ffl and payment and the patiently wait.  Maybe they would even be nice enough to put a scope on for me.

Cool!

Incidentally, I know Pete.  He lives about 30 miles from me, in Hempstead, TX.  He's a really nice guy and does good work.  I had him do some barrel work for me a year ago.
