Last year, Robert Griffin III won the Heisman and his team had 3 losses.

Tim Tebow won the Heisman in 2007 on a 3 loss team, with an additional loss in a bowl game after he won the award.

In neither case did those losses take away from those guys' performances on the field.

Johnny just broke Cam Newton's (another Heisman winner) SEC all purpose yardage record, finishing with 4,600 total yards.

The Heisman is an individual, not team award. Yes, it helps build the case when your team is undefeated, but you have to look at the performance of the candidate.

If he was a Junior or Senior, there wouldn't even be a credible debate.

Just sayin...

w0w, so serious ( just kidding) I wish he would win it as  a freshman first ever. he is truly the best QB this yr and has proved it 10 out of 12 games. The games he lost to were teams that really sucked and on his home field..

His only "bad" game was against LSU, who has a great defense despite a mediocre offense. And, A&M would have won that game were it not for turnovers in bad field position, because LSU wasn't moving the ball effectively against them, and A&M lead for most of the game. It's the only time this entire season he dipped below a 124 QB rating.

The Florida game was their very first game, with a new coaching staff and a totally new system both offensively and defensively. It was Manziel's first ever college game, and he still played very well. Florida already had a game behind them at that point. Still A&M led for most of the game and lost by 3 points.

He beat the Tide in Tuscaloosa, who has arguably the best defense in college football, and he had a highlight reel kind of day against them.

They have scored on every first possession of every game this season. Manziel has managed to put up his impressive numbers despite sitting out 8 quarters this season due to blow-out scores.

Manti is a beast, no doubt. Here are 2012 highlights:

Then again, take a look at Johnny Football's highlights, against arguably tougher defenses:

Article describes football as Johnny's "3rd best sport," behind baseball and golf:

He is a class athlete and a class act. Michelle is certainly a looker too! I'm rooting for him to nab the Heisman...trouble is politics and freshman status.

Our team had his by 21 points in the '09 playoffs at the half.  Port Lavaca is still talking about that loss.

Side note, Coy Detmer's kid played us early this year as a Sophomore.  Might be one to watch as well to see where he goes to College in a few.

Manziel has earned the Heisman this year.  That should be the only thing that matters but politics might hose him.
