, Hey guys. I am a newbie to the foruum and to the sport of long range shooting. I am a Lever Action buff by trade so my knowlege here is very limited. I recently purchased a Savage 10 FCP-K in .308 and a Zeiss Conquest 4.5x14x44 rapid Z 1000 from SWFA . Neither have arrived yet but both should be in by Christmas. I would greatly appreciate some advise on mounting this scope. The proper mount would be a good place to start and any tips would be great.

Do you have rings and such? If not I'd go with a set of Talley 1piece lightweight aluminum rings.

Thanks for the replies on the rings. What about the base? Is the base part of this set or is it seperate ?

Talley 1-piece all the way. That's all I use on my rifles, most of which are Savage. If you call SWFA.com and ask them to help you select the right ones for your rifle and scope, you will be doing yourself a favor by ensuring that you got the proper fit.
Since the Talley's are 1-piece setups, you won't need a base...it's all one piece. This is especially nice because you won't have the potential for things coming loose like you see happen on traditional 2-piece designs. Be prepared that the Talley's are going to cost about $60-$80, give or take, but brother it's money well spent!

I love my Harris bi pods. Get the "S", (swivel) model, with a Pod Loc.

Another vote for the Harris. I own a number of Harris bipods and one Versa-pod. And I can not remember the last time I used the Versa-pod.

Here is my 4.5-14x44 Z-800 mounted in Talley LW on an Accumark. Very nice rings that are simple, and work well for the application. On the bipod, I have both the Harris "s" version with the swivel, and an Atlas, which has swivel, and pan. Of the 2 I like the Atlas better for most of my shooting, but run the Harris on my hunting rig, as the leg deployment is faster, and the Atlas is very short. The Atlas does have some very nice features, but they come at a cost.

Which Harris Bipod. I found 6 @ SWFA and they all swivel and all are S of one kind or another. Some have longer legs than others . The short legged versions are$99.00. The long legged ones are $119.00
