I'm sure this topic has come up before I could not find it and am new to this site. I am wanting to buy a SS scope in 10x to put on a heavy barrel 308. I was wondering the difference between 10x42 and 10x42 hd? What Is first focal plane on a fixed power scope. Sorry if this is a stupid question. And is the HD worth the extra?
Thanks for the help |

10xHD is a heavier duty scope with better quality glass, both cost add ons. Since they are both ("Standard" 10x vs 10xHD) fixed power, there is no recognizable difference in FFP vs SFP, but there are still design elements that must be considered and paid for...
Is the HD worth the price differential? To me, a definite YES. I've used the "standard" 10x, own the HD. Overall "image quality" is significantly better with the HD. The internals have also been beefed up in the HD... Low light performance is considerably noticeably better with the HD. On a "value for the money" scale, it is approximately equal to the "standard" SS 10x... which is saying a lot, because the "standard" is a truly superior performer in its price range...
