There is nothing that meets your requirements, in your price range, that I would purchase. I don't really recommend scopes, but suggest things for people to look at. Swift Premier has a very nice target dot reticle in 6-24 with side focus, within your price range. Swift scopes are very high value.
You perhaps need to reconsider your requirements or extend your savings period...

It was outside your price range... the Elite is a nice little scope. I like the Swift better glass-wise, but the Elite has all your features and is a very good scope. If you HAVE to have the mil-dot reticle... it is worth the extra hundred dollars. I don't think you would ever regret getting it.

the Elites are all limited in adjustment range... this one even more so, I believe. It has only 26 MOA adjustment, total. That is not a lot. You'll definitely use that mil-dot reticle. However, it should be a good dependable scope. I don't have one, know people who do... there is not a "mad" like or dislike.... they seem to do well and as long as you are not trying to do a lot of long range shooting, seeem to perform "as expected". Perhaps someone with more experience with them can give you better information.

Welcome to Optics Talk.
How come you need so much magnification for a .22 LR?? Consider this little gem. http://swfa.com/Nikon-45-14x40-Buckmaster-Riflescope-P42210.aspx

Thank you for the welcome. my eyes are comfortable using 16X from 50 ft. but i would like to have a decent variable. which comparable scope would have more than 26 MOA adjustment? is this info found in the scope specs?

50 MOA of adjustment. That translates to 25 MOA of UP, theoretically.

the Elites are all limited in adjustment range
so, on a .22, will 26 MOA total adjustment be an issue with a mil dot reticle?

Without knowing what ammo you plan on using, I'd venture to guess that 20 plus MOA of up, should get you out to 166 yards.

than that would eliminate the 6-24 Elite which is k at13 MOA up(26 total).
Square 1; now what variable to look at?

This is an excellent scope for a 22LR target rifle. Unless you need target turrets I don't think you'll do any better. I use Weavers for 50yd and like them a lot I'm just not sure whatthe maximun adjustment range is. According to this chart you're looking at 30" of drop (50yd zero) at 160yds.

I'm not sure what you're asking. I'm not a fan of mil-dot scopes for target shooting but that's what you asked for. If you're asking about bullet drop I don't know I don't shoot 22s that far and I think I'd be concerned about the size of the dots depending on how big the target is.
