I am considering the purchase of a March 3-24 with the FML reticle.

I have looked thru a March 3-24 with the FML reticle and rather liked the design .

I intend to use this for long range hunting big game and varmint.

Is it worth spending the money for the illuminated reticle option and a low light module ?

That depends on how you plan to use the scope.

Hi ILya

I read your scope tests again this morning .

Most of my questions are answered I find.

You did not have any problem using the FML 1 reticle .

My main concern was that too much of the reticle is illuminated and that this washes out the target .

I am not looking for daylight visible but for use in low light with a dark background.

I have the March 3-24 Tactical with FMA reticle (MOA/MOA), illuminated.  Most of what I've been able to do so far is observe the low light capability/utility.  At its lowest power the IR does NOT wash out... as a matter of fact, at the highest power it is still much better than most IRs at low power.  It is certainly not designed around IR use in daylight... at the two higher illum levels, it is useable, but I don't see the need.  I've always liked adjustable IR better than "set" power levels, but March makes it work.  Best "set" power level IR I've seen.

One of our guys is testing one and I tried it out in low light last night.
To my eyes above 15 it's useless and the illumination is too bright.
I need to verify which illumination module is installed but I believe he asked for the low version.

Thank you for your interesting post.

Here is a great review on the 2.5-25x42 .
March review

Somewhere I recently read that March was considering building a 3-24 x 52mm scope .

Did anyone else find that when you changed magnification you had to adjust the parallax setting?

A 3-24x52 would be a big improvement, I think.

I've had no parallax adjustment issues and illumination on mine is very good… at two low levels, it is not overly bright for low light conditions.  At the two higher levels, it is useful in bright light.

My biggest issue and dissatisfaction is with 'eye box'.  Just far too critical for such a high end scope.

I've never liked 42mm scopes anyway… this one proves my points.

I am very impressed with my March 3-24 x 52 mm FML reticle .
I am looking for rings now so I have not mounted it yet.

My first thought was to put this on my C.I.L. 190 .22 LR to shoot gophers - Ha!

Andy has the March 3-24x42mm FML .
My first impression was that the 52 mm objective lens is much bigger
and would require higer rings.

The FML reticle is excellent and works from 3 X to 24 X .
At 20 X and above the "eye box" is rather critical but this is to be expected.

The illumination works fine at dusk and on black target - back ground with the low light module installed .

Further tests will have to wait until I get out to a range.
The neighbours would wonder if I put an optical test target on one of the condo walls.

I purchased this scope from Rich Diede - Spartan Precision in Calgary .
Ordered Nov 2013 - delivered to my home early June 2014 .

I am afraid so too. The guys at MTC have a reticle called AMD that has just a small illuminated cross at the center and people who reviewed these scopes find that a very neat feature so I figure since you pointed that out your self I wanted to post a link of it for you to see:

I don't know what that standard March illumination switch is for.

The low light module on 4 is great right now.

On 1 works fine at midnight .

So a wider low range is required -not so bright at 4 .

March is working on new illuminnation for the 1-8 but daylight dot bright  .

Any comments on this will be appreciated.
