UPS dropped off a new scope to review yesterday evening and I had a little bit of time to play with it as light faded in the field behind my house.
Leica 3-12x50 ERi with AVS turret and IBS reticle. My first time with a Leica Impressions
Will get back with more as time permits.. Edited by ccoker - October/04/2013 at 20:54 |

I know the non-lit Leica ER scopes are fantastic, and I was impressed by what I saw of the ERi's at the NRA show. So, I'd be shocked if you were anything less than blown away by this scope. I look forward to hearing your conclusions!

My singular gripe on the previous generation is the ease with which turrets spin on the target turret versions. Has that been addressed well?

No experience with the previous versions.
But this one has a locking function Don't know if the precious versions did. It feels pretty good, not quite as solid as a good tactical scope but doesn't feel spongey and the détents can be detected easily. I will test to see if they move too easy on accident. I was out about 20 minutes ago as it got dark. VERY clear glass and the illumination lowest settings are fantastic. It gets dimmer than my SB zenith FD9 |

Charles please keep us updated, I've been patiently waiting for SWFA to start selling them.
I purchased the 2.5-10x42 ER (non-illumination) per Ted's recommendation last year and it's served me well, as usual he was spot on! The only thing I don't like about the scope are the elevation and windage adjustments (turrets) compared to my Swaro, Zeiss and Leupold scopes. |

Hahaha, just saw this RC.... +100! If you're not careful they'll spin like a roulette wheel (maybe not that bad). |

I would love to get ahold of that scope. My 300 WM needs it. Love my Leica binos. Would love that scope too I am sure.

I didn't know these scopes were available yet. A good illumination system on the Leica ER should round out a killer package, IMO.

Very nice. Any more thoughts on the scope? What rifle did you put it on?

looks like one of those Nosler rifles in the pic. I like those and have read very nice reviews too. I believe the action is very similar to the Howa/Vanguard so a McMillan stock should bolt right up as well
.
I recently bought a non-illuminated ER from SWFA in 2.5-10 and absolutely love it.

sorry for the giant pic!
will fix The TGR comes with a BC Medalist I like the stock, I added texture to the grip areas and painted with bed liner spray. Gun shoots one hole groups at 100 and 2.5" at 500, can't see much to improve on :) |

yes, I have
It is definitely a low light system. It is in no way a "daytime bright" illumination setup. It is perfect for low to no light however.

Late post, just found it. Cooker What height bases did you have to use to clear that 50 MM scope? I'm interested in this, but shot a nightforce on a friends savage .243 that was so tall, he had to mount a huge riser on the stock, which made shouldering the weapon feel weird, like you had to turn your head 20° to the right for your eye to find the scope. I'm wondering about how tall of base ring set you had to use? |

I have the ERi 2.5-10 X 42 on a Legendary Arms Works Professional model with Low Talley Lightweight Mounts and with lens caps there is still room. I'd suggest ordering both medium and high and sending the one that doesn't work back. Best guess the medium might work.
There are a number of gents on this forum that are much smarter than I that will probably be able to say the exact one you will need. You will love the scope. |
