Just bought a 700 LTR.  It has an X Mark Pro trigger and I would like to upgrade.  Thing is it is a lefty rifle.  It looks like Timney makes a left-hand Remington 700 trigger.  Any other options I should go for?

If I go with Timney, do I get the one with or without the safety lever?

Thanks!

Jesse

I like the Timney idea. I'm a "my finger is my safety guy", but I'd get the safety too.

Others will chime in, but isn't there a little "smiffin" that one needs to do to get the Timney to fit correctly?

Hmmm...Big Green finally offers a LH LTR. How gracious of them. Bow

Depends on what stock the rifle is sitting in, Mark. In most cases, yes, you're correct; some material needs to be removed from the trigger inletting in the stock and the slot in the bottom metal where the trigger projects through.

OK, so I'm assuming that the OP will have an HS stock with the LTR, so that may be something to consider?

Any idea of that would mean more or less "smithing" of the stock?  Any direct replacements available?

I'm thinking it's fairly minimal, in most cases, but I've never done it either. I've thrown my X Pro's out and replaced them with worked Walker triggers.

I'm thinking it would be worth the effort. The Timney triggers are well thought of.

I'm still reeling from the acknowledgement from Daddy Green that declared us lefties as actual....Homo Sapiens and now THIS?? A true left handed LTR rifle for port sided LE/Mil shooters???

Timney has slimmed down the trigger housings a little bit to make them fit better with very little to no modifications. The older ones had an adjustment screw/lock nut protruding from the front of the housing that would hit before the trigger was fully seated. They have chopped this screw off to sit flush with the housing.
Even before this change, I never had to take very much out of the stock anyways.
