    Posted: December/03/2014 at 21:18
Tonight I purchased a pre-64 model 70 Winchester 30-06 at an auction. I can't identify the brand of scope on it only the model from what it looks to me is on the scope. March 2.5-25 x42 is it a generic model or a knock off?

Not knowing much about scopes at all and just getting into guns over the last couple years. I started with ARs lately I have gotten into bolt rifles.

I was thinking of putting a old school gloss Pentax or Leupold on For retro?

March scopes aren't cheap, if it is a March tactical 2.5X25 they range between 2K an 3.5K! More than likely its a knock off.

March scopes are not very well known.  Usually a product becomes somewhat of a land mark before the knockoffs occur.  Anything is possible but my wild ass guess is the probability is you got a genuine march scope for a incredible price.  One spin of the turret will tell.

I hope Koshkin chimes in.  He will know about the March.  The March scopes are

at the highest end.

Post a picture of the scope on your rifle so we can see your new purchase.

A photo would be nice.  Sounds like you got a very nice scope and rifle.  March scopes are very high quality and I suspect it is the real thing.  In any case  http://www.samplelist.com/TradeInForm.aspx
this is the trade in form link and you can ask what the trade value of that scope is if you choose to put different glass on it. They may need to see it before a quote however since it is not your typical scope.

There is no such thing as generic March scope. Osprey, can you post a picture?

A gloss scope would be cool.  I always liked the way the old bluing on the old steel Weaver scopes really complimented the older Winchesters.  These are just some of the nuttier things that some Winchester nuts think about....     Stare

I would like to see a picture too.  I have several March scopes and they are some of my favorites.  Right up there with my Swaro Z6.
