Three_tens, the problem that I have is that I have a front scope that is much too tall. The scope is pointing to the moon when I am bore sighting the rifle, so what I want to figure out how  to order a front sight so I can place the scope level with the barrel? Thanks for your answer, Hank

So tell me how you are bore sighting your Ruger? Also I am assuming that you have the correct rings for a Ruger #1 / 77.

When I bore sight I don't use a lazer bore sight tool. I just find them too inaccurate for me personally YMMV. I generally look through the bore of the barrel at something at least 50yds away and farther if possible and then adjust the scope to what I see through the bore.

And you might try turning your elevation knob the other direction if it is too high.

Ruger has a proprietary ring system. Check the rings to compare the height. It has been 15 or more years since doing a Ruger, so bare with me. The rear ring may be taller than the front. Could you have the rings reversed. Front with the back. I know we needed to use extended rings to achieve proper eye relief. It just does not sound like the rings are matched.

The Warne Maxima permanent attach has a set made to fit the Ruger#1 They are strong rings.
