Can anyone tell me where I can have my very old Pecar-Berlin 4x32 scope refurbished? It still works quite well, but it is just a little cloudy to look through. I live in Brisbane, Australia.

Mark T, I don't know about here in the U.S., but Seeadler-Optik in Nuremberg, Germany will repair and refurbish all makes of scopes.
It was a shame Pecar-Berlin went out of business. I consider them to be the best of the best. Very well made optics. I have two, a 4x32, and a 3-12x56. Both are very old and have the steel tubes. If you contact Seeadler, tell them Derek from Alabama told you about them. If you need further contact info, let me know, I can forward it to you, but it should be on their website. Hope this helps, Derek

Dang, did MarkT die or have a serious accident? Dude posts a legit question, then never comes back to see if he had any replies....

HuntMaster,
I wish I could say the same, I had bought one while stationed in Germany it was a 3X9 if I recall right it had the exchangeable reticles. I mounted it on a Sako in .308 and had to send that scope back to the factory 3 times to be repaired before I gave up on it and bought my first Schmitt &Bender and never looked back. I do wish it had lived up to its reputation. I’m kind of glad that someone else knows about these scopes every time I mention them I just get strange looks. |

I found a Pecar interchangeable reticle a few years ago, new in the box, fairly cheap....but, I didn't buy it because I didn't think I'd ever need it.
Would have been cool to have in the gun cabinet.....

Here is a link with some info. Eagle Hurst Sporting | Pecar Berlin
I have a few Pecars including two 4xJr but I won't part with them for the world. They are too good compared with modern massed produced glass. Not all the reticles are interchangeable depending on the model of scope. I emailed S & B and and asked them if they had taken over Pecar and do they do Pecar repairs. I received a reply from a Klaus Gorzel in their service Department who stated they had not taken over Pecar and that I contact: Ulrich Kothe Gruner Weg 14 35578 Wetzlar Tel 0049 (0) 6441-28692 Telefax 0049 (0) 06441-26432 |
