Hi Guys,

Im wondering if anyone knows of a good scope for an E Arthur Brown 97D 30-30.  The rifle came with 1" rings.  Im not really sure why.  I am having a hard time finding a good scope that is 1".
 Any suggestions?

Budget?  Magnification range?
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Budget would be under 1k.  And im thinking 3-9.  It would be used mostly for deer in woods.  I think this will be my sons first hunting rifle.

Perhaps within the new Leica ER 5 group you could find a winner. Seems like it needs to be trim and lightweight to "match" the 97D. Look at the 1.5-8 X 32. I have that very scope on order now... should be here directly (per Sky). It looks to be a winner!

I think they make some in that measurement.

For brush a 3-9 anything may be too much scope. Have you considered a low powered 1-4? All top notch manufacturers produce them mentioned above.
For the fine old 30 30 it's all you need. My opinion only.

I think that the 97d is at its best with a trim scope. The Swarovski Z3 suggested above is a superb option.

Not quite as nice, but a lot more affordable is Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32. I think it is excellent for the money.

Lastly, Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36 is worth a look.

To be honest, my favourite 1" hunting scope is Kahles KXi 3.5-10x50, but it is probably a bit too big for this rifle.
