For a spotting scope for 500.00 and under whats my best options? Mostly for target shooting seeing those tiny holes up to 600yds.
Had the Vortex diamondback in mind( i can a good deal on one). |

It would be hard to see holes in paper even at 5X your price. Try shooting steel at extended ranges. Easier to see the hits. You get the pleasure of the ring on impact.

OK, had a brain fart there. Holes out to 100 maybe 200 yards, I'll be shooting out to 600 eventually but not looking at holes....

At that range you can see them with a decent scope.

The Diamond back would probably be sufficient at 100 to 200yds., but peddler is right, I don't think the best alpha class scope would be reliable at 600yds.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.
