I watched "The Manchurian Candidate" over the weekend for the first time (the original with Frank Sinatra). It was pretty good.

Watched 2 good movies over the weekend; one in color, and one black and white made in the 90s.
The color movie was "Specter", with Daniel Craig. The B&W movie was " Schindler's List". Schindler's List was by far the better movie. |

I'm watching a very long movie that I picked up about a month ago. It's about 8 hours, so I'm watching it as I can. It's in color, so it doesn't qualify for this topic, but it is a VERY good movie so far.
The movie is "Generation War". It is a WWII movie based on the lives of 5 Germans that grew up together in the same neighborhood in Berlin. Two are brothers in the German Army, one is a lieutenant with some combat experience and the other is a private with no experience. There are two young women, one is a singer, and the other is a nurse. There is also a Jewish tailor who's father is a WWI veteran. So far the movie has covered their lives as they deal with the war. There are sub-titles since this is a German made movie, but they are easy to read as they are large, up long enough to read, and don't get washed out in the background. I get these movies from a vendor at the annual military show here. They have ranged from, I can't believe I wasted my money on this, to not bad, to pretty good, but this one has been really good. If you can find it, and your in to WWII movies with a historical perspective, then I recommend it. |

How long is that in Dog Hours Lynn??? I find the Holocaust movies very interesting but extremely depressing. Especially since it appears t obe rolling out here too... All the more, I'm seeing the US going down the socialist road since we've let our colleges all be run and students taught by liberal right winger and wackos... We've allowed it.... taken our religion out of everything. Suppressed patriotism and empowered tyranny through our lack of interest and participation in civic duty...

Bud, I agree with most everything you said, but I am confused by the "liberal right winger" label.
The movie isn't a Holocaust movie. It's a movie about the war told from the perspective of the Germans that weren't wrapped up in the ideology of the Nazis, but their patriotism for their country, and the dark hole they were led into by the Nazis. Dogs have no sense of time. |
