Nico Pelzer Folder

Case:  Giraffe Leather & Bone

Handle Scales:  Mammoth Ivory 3 1/4"

Bolster:  Mokume

Thumb Bob Inset with Mammoth Ivory

Action:  Liner Lock

Blade:  Stainless Damascus 2 1/4"

O.A.L.:  5 1/2" Open, 3 1/4 Closed

Screws used throughout instead of rivets/pins

Nico sent this knife to Krause Publications to be photographer and reviewed for the annual book, "KNIVES" back in the 1990's.  The publisher traded it to us along with a few other interesting knives.

From the book:

Nico by profession is a full time farmer in Kwazula Natal, South Africa.  He works in a well equipped workshop on his farm making the beautiful high quality folder he is so well known for.  He specializes in liner locks using only the finest exotic materials.  All of his knives are file worked with the most beautiful designs.  The filing is an artwork in itself.

Roy would've loved this one.

Can you bring Giraffe bones back to the good old USA or is that now illegal?

Giraffe leather also?

Not sure if you would be able to import that knife into the US because of the mammoth scales.  I was looking at the James Purdey website and they are now selling semi-custom knives and there is a disclaimer stating they cannot export knives with walrus or mammoth scales to the USA.  They have knives with buffalo horn or camel bone that are OK so assume giraffe would be alright as well.
