I seem to always purchase things without proper research. I recently purchased a Ruger 10-22 Lite. Today I bought a Leupold VX-1 3-9X50 scope for it. I am a novice and I am wondering if I bought a good combination. I plan to use it for squirrel hunting. Thank you in advance.

That's not a bad scope, but I personally can't get past a good fixed for a 22. For squirrel, I've always used a good 4x, but if I was putting it on my .22WMR, I'd lean toward the FX-II 6x33 (an SWFA Exclusive, I might add), or the 3-9x33 VX-2 Rimfire E.F.R (not an SWFA exclusive, but they sell them).
Another good option would be the Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35:

I like the Weaver Rimfire 2-7x. It dons my Marlin 60.

Good call CT. I forgot about that one. A fine optic.

Another 2-7X fan here. I use a Redfield on a 77/22 Ruger for squirrels.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

I'd like to see a comparison of the Weaver and the Vortex you suggested. I expect they would be similar.

I haven't ever seen a Redfield Revolution yet.

I "like" fixed, low power scopes for .22's, but the 2-7x is almost ideal for me.

Yes, Sir! I shot a rat off the bird bath converted bird feeder Sunday with the Marlin and the W 2-7x. Drilled him....

It's an old Redfield from the late 80s or early 90s. Has a BDC that is worthless for a 22lr, but the power range is perfect. |

Great scope, Skip. I have the same one on top of my .338 Federal BLR.

Deck, if I had to guess its probably 20 - 25 years old. Still clear as as could be.
Best guess the old Kimber hasn't had 100 rounds thru it. Maybe 150! The Kimber does like RWS cartridges. It's worth it. |

The 3-9x50 will certainly work. But it is huge for such a small gun and will change the balance and handling. One of mine wears an old B&L Balfor in 4x and it's small size compliments the little 10/22 perfectly. Most of the other suggestions would be fine.
