Hi, Im new to the forum and Im sure this topic has been covered so many times its not funny, so for that im sorry but I need some help :) I Live in NZ and the exchange rates and profit margin made on optics is ridiculous. I originally come from the US but relocated many years ago. Im having a new Kimber Adirondack in 6.5 Creedmor sent to me and I decided I wanted to put some decent optics on it. I have between 500-700 dollars US to spend on a new or used scope. I have been looking at the Zeiss, leupold, etc. I guess what I would like to know is regardless of brand and shooting in the mountains and dense bush (500 yards maximum) what would you recommend? Thank you for the help in advance! John |

Great recommendation. I would also check out the sample list.
For $699 you could get a Conquest Duralyt 2-8x42,
and for $799 you could get this:
You should also check out the SWFA SS line of scopes. This from the sample list also:

EXCELLENT choice in rifles!!!! I don't know what law's there may be to overcome, if there are any.
My 6.5 Creedmoor started as a 26"barreled Ruger M77 Mk2 Hawkeye stainless. I wrung it out pretty good with the 26" . Then, because I desperately wanted a carbine, . I chopped the barrel to 18.6". As a hunting rifle, it improved the rifle in everyway. It takes I some doing to get even a 500 yard shot around here in eastern central Alaska. Last fall I put a 1~4x24 SWFA SS Classic on the rifle. That scope is awesome!! With it I have cleanly taken caribou so far at close to 400 yards. . And the scope is totally adequate for at least 500 yards. Even on coyote size target's. . A friend in Australia built a 6.5 Creedmoor for hunting and put a 1?~6 Leupold on it and has cleanly taken roo's at the 600m mark with that scope and he just put a 2~10x32 Vortex Viper PST on it to have as a back-up scope. He REALLY likes that scope also !! On a light weight sweet handling hunting rifle . Over scopeing it is imo a mistake. Edited by Cold Trigger Finger - July/19/2016 at 18:32 |

I feel your pain. I recently bought a Ruger Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, and have scoped it with a Burris 6-20x50 E1 side focus. I could use medium rings making for a 1.75" above center of bore. Snaps up to your face nice and cheekweld is good centering the eye on the exit pupil. Prices may vary in your neck of the woods, but this in my opinion MAY be a good choice. I'll be shooting it next month. Will give a full report then. |
