I have a Weatherby Mark V with a Zeiss 4.5-14x 50 with some Weatherby Rings made by Talley and a newly acquired Remington 700 Long Range heavy barrel contour. What I'd like to do is put Talley picatinny rails on both guns and put Talley Tactical Rings on the Zeiss and share the scope with both guns. Does this sound like a doable project? Do you think I could get by with Talley Tactical low?
Thanks for your advise in advance!

Yes! Very doable. I do it all the time.
Yes, low's will work.

It is unlikely that the rails on 2 rifles would have the same alignment. You will need to re zero the scope and dials each time you swap between rifles. Cumbersome but can be done. If the intended use for the 700 is long range you will find The Zeiss to be limited in adjustment range over other scopes designed for long range. A canted rail would help, A dedicated scope for both rifles would be less problematic.

Many of us here have tried it, the idea is awesome, the implementation, not so much. In the end, you have a tough time maintaining 2 zeroes.
Give it a go, let us know what you think. |

It is doable, but everyone I know who tried it ended up simply getting another scope out quickly.
Two sets of Talley picatinny rings and bases will set you back around $400. For that amount of money you can easily get a fairly decent scope with simpler non detachable mount for the Remington for precision shooting. For example, you can get SWFA SS 12x42 for $300, a picatinny base for ~$50, and Vortex Viper 30mm rings for $60. ILya |

Thank you all for your expert advise. I really liked the idea of one scope for multiple guns but heeded to your advise. I bought another scope to sit on top of my remington 700 using LaRue picatnny rail and Talley tactical rings in low fits perfect. I just need some time to go to the range and see what she'll do.
Thanks again oh great ones! |

on the long run, you will spend more on ammo to adjust the scope than you would save by having only one scope.
