I had a savage mark II for quite a while. It normally wears a SWFA 10X scope. I do happend to remove this scope when i get a new rifle to test that rifle out with it. Then I remount the scope. Now I've always had a pain in the butt time doing it. This last time I paid closer attenntion to when I did and it raises a good question. I so i bore sighted the gun at 15 yards. fired and the impact was over 9 inches to the right. 9" at 15 yards is crazy. I couldnt even see that much of the cardboard at 15 yards through the barrel. This is the only gun I've ever had that did this. Its always done it too, shoots fine. once i get it zeroed. So can someone please explain to me how a bullet can leave the barrel at 1000+ fps and jum that far off. With every other rifle I've owned bre sighting will get me on12x12" paper at 100 yards. |

Your scope mounting base holes on the receiver are that far off. You can offset this by using Burris Signature rings with the offset inserts.

Sell the rifle, buy something not jacked up.

So you looked through the barrel at a spot 15yds away, then aligned the scope reticle with that same spot, then you fired a shot aiming and it landed 9inches to the right?
Did you have the rifle rock solid through this process? Did the scope not move whilst tightening the mounts etc etc. In other words after the process did the bore and scope stay aligned?? Maybe I am missing something here: 1000fps? Maybe that is the problem, the bullet needs a little more powder behind it?? |

Post a pic of the set up if you can. What base and rings are you using? Do you take the scope out of the rings or move the rings with the scope? Do you try to record the settings of the Savage or return the scope back to elevation and windage center for each change? You mentioned "bore sighting" do you use a bore sight tool or sight down the bore? I've seen this also and it can be a number of things.

Its a .22 long rifle, so 1000 fps is typical speeds. |

Theres nothign actually wrong. If you center up the scope in its tube, and then bore sight it . they align pretty well. So nothing seems out of whack , like base holes drill out of line. And once its zeroed it shoots greats. its one of the better 22s I've shot. |

POI is consistent. hot. cold. . with wolf 22 match it always shot dime groups or smaller at 50 yards. usually around an inch or better at 100. I've owned this rifle since savage started putting the accutrigger on the rimfires. its got several thousand rounds down the barrel and always been a good rifle. Just when i remount the scope. The bore alignment and POI are way different. |

it originally had the factory 2 peice base. At some point I Switched to a one peice(egw maybe). I've used Burris Z rings and Seekins Precion rings on and off just whatever i felt like using. Usually the Z cause it aligned my windage better. |

When you go out from 15yds to 50 and 100yds do you have to dial in more windage correction? I am guessing yes.

When you get it sighted in, have you tested to see where the windage adjustments are sitting mechanically? Meaning from your zero, count how many clicks/moa/mil to the right and then back to zero and then count to the left.
Curious to see how far from mechanical zero you are. I had a Remington rifle years ago, that the base mount holes must have been way jacked up as every scope I put on it it would need almost all the windage to get it zeroed. I would typically have 2 or 3 mils from the right side and then a ton going the other way. I would put on those scopes on other rifles and they were much closer to zero. I tried different bases, rings, etc to no avail. |

Have you had your eyes tested lately? Maybe you are seeing double?
Reminds me of a friend I had...he used to open the gate and climb over the fence
