Wanting to get into the Vortex game for some time now. Thinking about the Viper 2.5-10x44mm HS for a new AR, (5.56mm yawn ) build. Reviews look good and I know Vortex has exceptional CS. How's the glass compare to say a...SS 3-9x? Might move the SS to the blaster and put the Viper, (LOVE that name) on Black Betty, but "need" the good optics that the SS has on the .308 bolt gun. Also considering another Leupold VX-R.

VX-R is a nice scope.
As far as the original, no longer relevant, question goes, The 3-9x42 SS is a better scope than the 2.5-10x44 Viper. |

Thank you, Dark Lord.
Viper looks a little heavy also. Any feed back on the Leupold V3i? Glass same or better than the VX-R? |

VX-3i is basically the same optics as VX-3 out into a tube that is cheaper to machine with cheaper cosmetics.
Optically, it is similar to VX-R, but without the illumination that makes it all worth it. |

Ans then there's the Vortex Strike Eagle...
I don't want to spend much on this blaster. It's a Palmetto Arms 16" middy, SS, and a plain Jane A2 stock, also PSA. Think "truck gun".

I'll am not a fan of the Strike Eagle. At all.
If you want an inexpensive low range variable, SWFA SS 1-4x24 or Burris RT-6 1-6x24 would be my recommendations. ILya |
