I read that Leupold was consolidating the VX1 and VX2 lines into this. The big question is it VX2 glass? And does it replace or complement the rifleman scope?

A few places have them for preorder like (competitor). I wonder if these are worth buying over redfield revolutions. they are priced the same, but the freedom's marketing suggests the lenses are better than the rifleman. With their "twilight management". I wonder if that "twilight management" is the same as the vx-3's "extended" twilight management or the vx-3i's "Max" twilight management. Are those two even different??
What they seem to be hiding is what coating these new scopes will have. they just keep saying "military grade" coatings. Not sure if that is their multicoat 4 or a diamondcoat? Im not sure if these are worth getting excited about. What i would hope is that these are a clear step up from the rifleman but at a cheaper price. But that seems too good to be true. Not sure if these are worth waiting for. Edited by Skylar McMahon - January/12/2018 at 17:12 |

Yes, Ultimately this is replacing the Rifleman, VX-1 and VX-2. Ric, I've been well. Very busy, but well. I need to call you so I can tell you all about it. |

Phil, that I'm not sure of. I was hoping to see one at the Dallas Safari Club, but they didn't have it. |

I am glad they consolidating product lines. They had a little too many of what is basically the same design.

Please remember the rules when posting that you agreed to when joining this forum. It is sponsored by SWFA and we do not permit sharing competitors information. All great questions. It was something I was hoping to contrast while at the Dallas Safari Club show, but sadly they didn't have any to view.

I can get this scope here in South Africa for a very good price, but I can also get a VX3 4.5-14x40 used condition for a bit more. Is this as good as the VX3?

OK, so where does the Freedom line fall, optically? Which of it's peers is it most comparable to?

Definantly Vx2 glass. I contacted Leupold re:Recoil and they claim it will withstand 5,000 fireings of a .375 H&H magnum.
