Took gun out to hunting club to sight in and shoot.
Got on Target with Hornady 150 great American whitetail. Two 3 shot groups under 1 inch. I put 5 federal gold match SMK 168's under an inch, and also 5 of 7 remaining handloads consisting of 168 nosler BT over 46.2 grain bc-l2 under 1 inch. One I pulled. 3 went through a hole for 2. So not the best place to shoot, just some homemade table and a broken chair and my bag thing. Even with my heart beat making it dance around and the terrible trigger. Much better shot performance than I saw prior to sending it back in. A better trigger and stock ought to help as would some load development. So much happier with my gun now. Not like I let it cool down much either. |

Good deal. Timney makes a nice trigger for it and SWFA stocks them. https://swfa.com/shooting-gear/gun-parts.html?availability=In%20Stock&brand=Timney%20Triggers&firearm_type=Rifle&gun_manufacturer=Remington.

I was really pleased with the 150 gr performance. Those didn't group very well before. Over inch and a half. With the gunsmith shooting it in a much better situation than mine.
I am going to tinker with the 168 grain Ballistic Tips and see what I can get to happen. I think that extra weigh would carry better for me if I had a longer shot. Which I do at my hunting club. This will about get me down to 1 rifle for the whole thing. This one is short enough it will work in a shooting house, or a tree stand, and yet still reach out and touch something if I need that. |

+1 I've had good luck with them on my m700's. https://swfa.com/timney-triggers-remington-700-w-safety-105269.html |

I'd be happy with my stock old 700 trigger on my 270. So much better.
