This is a stock a customer sent me wanting the small crack fixed, I was up for the challenge. I sure hope he likes it.
This is the small crack and small hole for one of the steel pins. with pin inserted and a few items holding the parts in the correct place. well just in case This is after a little sanding. when the customer works his touch on it there shouldn't be any real noticeable marks on it. i would do it with a dark stain and let the grain of the wood hide the small fix line. |

I have a 1903 Springfield that was given to me by a friend. It had a crack in the wrist of the stock that made me afraid to shoot it, for fear of having the action end up in my face. I thought about trying to repair it, but decided to replace it instead. I picked a used 1903 stock that looked good out of a bunch of 1903 stocks. When I started the process of switching over parts, I discovered it had a crack in the wrist too. I ended up buying a new reproduction 1903 C stock with the semi pistol grip. Haven't had the chance to put it back together yet.
Nice repair Brando. |

Nicely done!
Modern adhesives seem to be stronger than the wood itself. If properly glued, any new breakage would be in a new spot, not where the original crack was. ILya |
