I received an e-mail today announcing the entrance of Maven into the rifle scope world.  They are bringing an FFP hunting scope to the market (availability in May) in a 2.5-15x44 package that includes capped turrets, side parallax, and choice of 2 reticles.  Their scopes are reportedly produced in Japan, and they are hinting at future additions along the lines of a 2-10 model, as well as customized turret options. Did anyone have a look at this during 2018 SHOT?

I saw the scope at the Western Hunt Expo.  It looked like a solid entry into the market at first blush.  The people running the company are pretty dedicated to making a good product.  The binocular line is pretty popular.

First I hear of that.

That's an interesting development.  I do not know anyone at Maven, so if you have a contact there, I would appreciate a referral.

Maven doesn’t show at Shot because they do not market their products thru dealers.

On paper that looks like an excellent rifle scope.  I like the MOA reticle.

That reticle also caught my eye and interests me.  I'd really like to see some "thru the scope" pics of it at min, max, and a middle mag setting to see how well it works in FFP.

The reticle is the one thing that I am a little dubious about. I hope they post a detailed drawing at some point.

The specsheet looks interesting and I really like the configuration.

If they make a mrad version, I'll definitely get my hands on one and test it.

I am sorta actively divesting all my MOA-based scopes, so I do not want to get into another one.

Maven is on my watchlist now, though.

Weight 24.5oz, not really a mountain rifle scope. Coffee

Yep.  The more I find from Maven on this though, it sounds like that wasn't their intent and plan on following this scope with something along the lines of a 2-10x38 that is intended for a mountain scope.
