Had a 99 in .358 Win.when I was a kid. Didn’t keep it very long it kicked like a mule.I might have weighed 140 then. I traded it in on a Model 88 in .308.

It is the same when you are stupid.

Peddler, my Dad speaks of a Winchester 88 a friend of his had out in Botswana.

Said bit balanced beautifully but spent a lot of time with the gun smith as it did not like sand which is something of an issue in the Kalahari...

Myth Busters did a show on bullets in water. As I remember, you're safer being shot at with a high power rifle when you're under water than you are a black powder cartridge.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Well if you read that article and it's true then going from a couple of feet to 60 meters is a hell of an improvement and that with armor piercing capability to boot.

Well, I had issues getting used to the civilian hunting style BAR too, but I eventually came to terms with the fact that not every thing John Browning, and Browning FN designed was for the military. It was hard. I had to adapt though.
