This year i have tried to make duck tubes. Started out making three, month ago they are all occupied now, so (even if it is a little late) yesterday i made three more. This morning it looked like one of them allready was attractive to a new pair of inhabitants. I Just got back from a hunt in Germany. I was challenged a bit on my hunting skills cause it was all thick brush woods i was hunting which not left any chances to think twice if a buck showed up. I am not used to hunt in the woods, more in open country like farmland and minor plantations. It seems to me that the deer in the woods are more on the go than deer on farmland, maybe because there not is the same amount of food in the woods?? I ended up with this 3-4 year old buck. Was on his back for three days, the first two days i only saw him ( parts of him) briefly. In March / April, my wife and i went to London to spend Easter. I got in touch with Mike "Scrumbag", to get a couple of ideas of what to see and do during our visit. To make a long story short, we ended up having lunch together on a nice local pub, where Mike made reservations. Amazing what hunting ( Optics Talk ) can do, when it comes to bringing people together. Being the first time we ever meet, one could think there could be some quirt moments, but we did not have a dull moment, and there's no doubt we will meet again. Thanks again for the lunch Mike. |

That's great, thanks for sharing, Claus! You and Mike are a tremendous asset to our forum and we appreciate you being here offering a view of the finer things in life from your corner of the globe. There are lots of good people here among our group. 20 years ago, before the advent of internet forums like this one, we would have never known one another.

RD, very true. Technology and the internet are blamed for quite a few bad things, however, it does bring good people with common interests
And it's a real pleasure to be here Scrummy |

Maybe we can get Claus to be the 2nd Optics Talk member to bag a muntjac… : I'm looking very much foreward to give it my very best try, Mike. BNB: even a blind squirrel may occasionally find a nut. LOL Ted: Thank you for the nice words. I ( i guess i can say, we) appreciate it. And , yes you are right. There is a lot of good guys in this forum. I whish we once could make a O.T. gathering somewhere accessible in the U.S. so we all could shake hands, tell good stories (true or not), and have a great party. WOW … Wouldn't that be something. Scrummy: About the Tubes: i have become better and faster at doing them. In the beginning they took quite a while, but i now have better material to work with, and in the sunny weather we have had lately, things go smoothly doing it all outside. |

I like the idea of all the OT members getting together. Maybe we can all get together at SWFA's store and Chris will pay our airfare |

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

He doesn't have to do that, just a big enough coupon for redemption (Could do with some aimpoints, 1-?x24 DG scope, NV scope, Good hunting optic with ASV, Thermal spotter...) Big enough discount and I'll be there ;)

I'm not quite sure Cris will find that idea very attractive , at least you are on the right side of the pond if an event should happen. |
