In 2011 we made a minor lake on the property. App 1200 sq. meters. The edges / slopes has been sliding a bit every year with that result that the water surface got smaller and there has been a lot of bulrush and other plants. We got it "cleaned" up today and wowโฆ amazing how much bigger the lake became. Monday i found a dead doe??????? First time ever. No sign of why it died, so i cut it up. Found some NASTY bugs in the throat so she aparently was choked cause they was all over the place. Looked like caterpillars. So i took it to a place where i could watch it in case a fox should show up. Yesterday it was goneโฆ. No sign of anything, just goneโฆ. Much to my surprice i found it in a ditch app. 90 ft. from the place where i put it. Hmmm. Quite a distance to drag a app. 60 pound body, hauling it through thick brush, carying it over stumbs of wood??? Fox?? Maybe, but it had to be a strong one of the specie or maybe more than one. Wolf? Arrrhhh. We DO have wolfs in DK. but not many and certainly not in my area. I took my trail camera and put it up. Today i saw the pictures of a small humble fox. I am amazed that they after all have that much power that they can carry / drag a body of that size. Well done Foxy, now get your bu.. out here tonight. I am waiting. Fox hunting began the first of July but i haven't had any luck yet. |

A lot of hard work there. Apparently you know your way around an excavator.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

I'd have found out if that Kubota would float probably. Those banks look slick!
You stock the pond with fish or anything? |

Lynn: I'm with ya there. I'm pricing new back hoes in the 40 horse range now. Sounds pricy..
Graham: It wasn't as slippery as it looks, in fact he told me he whish he could use it more in wetland area than he does. It apparently wears more on it if he runs on dry surface. There's some minor fish in there, they came in there within the first year. I guess some fish egg most have been hiding on some of the ducks or so. I didn't put any in there. In some of the other lakes we have carpes, pikes and other smaller ones. Normally we don't have much of the green stuff you see on the surface. It shows once in a while for shorter periods. Before he started digging there was not much to see but after he removed the bulrush there was a thin layer all over. Thank you Ed. Edited by Claus - June/15/2018 at 18:07 |

Very nice buddy. I am always amazed by foxes and what they can do. Tenacious little guys! Good to see you are doing some work maintaining the land my friend! I'm always amazed when "city slickers" get the realisation that the countryside in a lot of Europe is heavily managed. Keep up the good work my friend. Scrummy

Good to see you are doing some work maintaining the land my friend! I'm always amazed when "city slickers" get the realisation that the countryside in a lot of Europe is heavily managed. Keep up the good work my friend. Thank you for the nice words, Mike. Yeah a lot of people think that : Nature?? well,,, doesn't it just come by itself?๐ค๐ค๐ค At the moment I am fighting a bigger battle than the weed that pops up everywhere. The WORST kind of weed.... IRS POLITICIANS.... The Ministry of IRS has come up with the most stupid, stupid, suggestion I have ever heard of. Up till now it has been so that if you have 5,5 hektar land, or more, you are supposed to maintain the farmland so it not grows into wild bush. You may not build on farmland, and a lot of other restrictions... You are "rewarded" with not paying any yearly tax on the farmland, you only pay for the main house as if it was an ordinary house in the city. Now the Ministry has come up with a "brilliant" idea..... Why don't we put tax on the farmland as well as we do it in the cities if there is no cattle or crops on the property? In our case it means we would get a raise from 500 us $ to 6200 us $..... Meaning an end to our life project. I have written to all responsible politicians in our parliament hoping to get a conversation going. So far no positive responce. Also I have been in touch with other organisations that are taking care / using the farmland for hobbys that requires space ( horses, eco farmers etc.) I am still waiting to hear from some of them. In case this suggestion becomes a fact we can pack our things and get going, and we are not the only ones. Thousands of minor places like this that are doing their best to help and keep the nature will go belly up. But they haven't heard the last from me yet.

How about bee keeping? We need the bees, I have friends who are doing it and making money on the side selling honey... it's environmentally correct... and according to those I know, not that much trouble.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have made requests on several different kinds of farming. Among that bee keeping, but it is not considderet as farming here. |

I wish it was enough, Ed. I just got back from a Countyfair where i was so lucky to run into a parliament member who has been working on this case. Unfortunately he had bad news to tell... The suggestion has been approved and will be affected from September next year. He is one of the few politicians i trust, and who has pretty good influence. He promissed to put me on CC of all that happens in this case. All we can do now is to wait and see how it all has been finally agreed, and see if there is a hole or two to get through. If not, we decided to stay in touch and i promissed to get as many examples as possible of where this law has gone wrong. |

How about free range chickens, and a orchard or vineyard? You could grow hay to sell to cattle farmers, or maybe rent the farmland to another farmer to raise crops; that's what a lot of families do who have farmland but are unable to farm in my State.

In fact we had plans about a making wine, so we did a lot of research at Danish vineyards and had to realize that with a place that needs to be taken care of, barns that needs to be rebuild and two full time jobs it was / is a no go. It require extremely much TLC. We can not find the hours to do it. We allready grow hay for cow food but was told that it was not enough to get around the suggestion. To rent it to a farmer is also a solution we have considered. I talked to a represent from a farming organization about it, he told me we couldn't use that solution because the IRS want to have the owners to run the farm.๐๐๐๐ It's insane.... So this means that the land outside the city's can only be owned by farmers??? I will require an issue of the law in full edition so I can study it closer and find out exactly what has been approved and what haven't, be cause there is a lot of rumors. I know the original law text but not the final one. |
