Interesting observation ILya. I figured it was short action light weight rifles in deer calibers.
I am concerned about the reticle in low light, though.

I'll play with it and see how it does in low light. The upcoming BDC reticle is a little bolder. ILya

I like this scope overall. If it had about 1/2" more eye relief at max magnification and a bolder reticle, I would have already bought one. A scope like this on a super light hardcore mountain rifle would be sweet. I'd be willing to give up a couple ounces if there were an HD version of this same basic concept with just a tad more eye relief. I realize more eye relief would probably require a larger ocular diameter.

I would love to see SWFA introduce an HD version of this scope with, say, 3" ER at highest magnification, a 36mm objective, a bold plex, #4, or similar, and weighing around 12 oz. I would immediately snap up a 2-8X36 SS HD hunting scope at 11 oz, 11" long, but I realize my tastes are out of style.
This scope is tempting as-is, but I would want this for a light BG bolt action, not an AR, and I'd prefer a big more eye relief for that.

What you are describing is very close to Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32 and is along the same veins as VX-3i 2.5-8x36. Personally, I agree that SWFA would do exceedingly well with a scope like that. However, if I were SWFA, I would generally keep my HD line restricted to either fixed power of FFP products. Now, if they managed to make a 2.5-10x36 HD with covered windage turret, low profile exposed elevation turret, FFP reticle with a simple tree and a single illuminated dot in the center for low light weighing it at less than 16 ounces, I would be all over at in a heart beat and a lot of other people would be too. This scope as is is quite good. I am not as concerned about eye relief as most others simply because I spent a fair amount of time with an old Sightron compact that has similar eye relief on a 7.62x54R Mosin. One of the reasons I never got bit with that scope is the slim eyepiece and this one looks potentially even smaller in diameter. It is not just eye relief. You do not get hit in the eye. You get hit on whichever portion of your face sticks out the most. For different people, it is a different thing. For people with deeply set eyes, it is the eye brow (stock crawling does no help). For me, it is the bridge of the nose, which is much more likely to come in to contact with the eyepiece if the eyepiece is large in diameter. If I were building a lightweight mountain rifle, I would probably build one chambered for the 6.5Grendel and for intermediate cartridges like that, this scope has plenty of eye relief. ILya

I really like both of those scopes, especially the Razor HD LH 1.5-8X32. I just have more faith in the mechanical integrity of a SS scope and I like seeing them expand their line to hunting-oriented models.

I agree on expanding the SS line, as long as some original SS DNA is still present.
As far as Razor HD LH goes, did you have any issues with it? Mine spent most of its time on 458SOCOM with no ill effects. ILya

No, I didn't have any issues with it. I liked it a lot. Then again, since it didn't belong to me, I didn't exactly punish it either, and I had it mounted on a mildly recoiling rifle (.300 BLK). SWFA SS mechanical durability - tracking integrity and ability to hold POI - is more of a known proven commodity than Vortex's hunting models. Or, at least that's my impression, and I have more faith in that aspect of SS scopes.

Now, I see the problem. You should pick up one of the HD LH 1.5-8x32 while SWFA has them on sale: Once you have the scope on hand, since all of you current scopable rifles already have optics, you will need to go ahead and buy a new rifle appropriate to the scope. I suggest you get started on acquiring the scope, while I go do some market research and see which rifle you should get for it (more specifically, I want to pick something I am interested in trying next time I visit). While you are at it, you may want to consider picking up the new SS UL as well. I am sure we will find a good rifle for it without too much difficulty. ILya

Dammit, there you go trapping me with a rock-solid argument whose logic is inescapable! I will likely need both scopes from which to extrapolate their relative merits with other optics I own, and since it makes no sense to have a scope without a perfectly good rifle hanging from underneath it, it only follows that I should get 2 more rifles to match.

For the 2.5-10x32 SS, I suggest you get a Howa micro action in 6.5Grendel.
For the 1.5-8x32 HD LH, Browning BLR is 300WSM. Try to get it all set up before I come to you neck of the woods in October . If I can ever be of any further assistance in spending your money on guns and optics, do not hesitate to let me know. ILya

Take a light to midweight hunting rifle in the 30-06 class out in the field, get prone, and shoot a steep uphill angled shot. You'll see what poor eye relief feels like. No offense to SWFA at all intended, but there's no way I'd buy this scope instead of a Leupy 2.5-8x36. Never seen the Razor koshkin is pushing.
