"The Marching Morons" is a short story... I believe I first read it in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame Volume II.

I found it...

abebooks is where I was looking for a book and I wound up getting connected to this store which turned me on to this town in Herefordshire---Hay-On-Wye....which is a town full of bookstores....

....now I can't remember what book I was looking for.....( OH!  It may have been a huge, rare book on The SS Normandie! )

Well, I put E L Doctorow on hold for awhile....he had several narrators in WORLD'S FAIR all of them speaking in first person and I was not in the 'mood' for that....although I have liked all of Doctorow's books thus far....( I read RAGTIME over forty years ago and instantly became a big fan...)  So I will read it later when I am in the mood....

So I grabbed Paul Horgan's A DISTANT TRUMPET.....

......oh, yeah!!!!  I can't put it down!

I thought I would read something 'light' after some big books....but Jacqueline Winspear crams her books with so many factoids about the old days and World War I and England that I keep learning all these little tidbits.....
