So i went and ordered me a barrett fieldcraft. 6.5 creed 22” barrel. Its about a 5 1/2 lb rifle. I own 3 scopes i am considering in this order. 1. leupold vx5 2-10x. 2. Swaro z3 3-9x. 3. Swfa ss 3-9x.
The leupold is my first choice because of the zero lock turret and its fairly light and i like the alumina flip caps. The swaro because of optics and its 11oz’s, but no turret spinning. The swfa is last becasue of weight and because it tunnels on 3x. Any thing else i should be considering? The razor lh 2-10x has my eye but honestly don’t see how it can offer anything the Leupold or Swaro don’t. |

I know this is probably heavier than what you want but 6.5 goes a long way.

Probably the Loopie would get my vote of the ones you have.
Will you be using it for deer or coyotes or something else? UF is right on the 4-16 option as well. Scrummy PS I still can't get the Alumina scope caps to sty on my Scout scope!

Tough call, as much as I like the Swaro I’d probably be leaning toward the vx5 with it’s zero stop turrets. You hunt mountains, not hills. 😉

It will be my do all gun. Yotes, deer, elk, and anything else i wanna hunt.
I am not a huge magnification junky. Never hunted much with or really needed more than 9 or 10x on the top end. But am open to ideas as long as it works with a light and trim rifle. |

Strange. I have 5 or 6 sets of them and have no issues with any of them coming loose. That rubber washer if you tighten them right acts as a lock washer of sorts and should keep them from loosening up. |

Got the fieldcraft today. What a beauty she is. Ordered some 30mm rings from Skylar so I think I will start with the Leupold first. Wife says its going under the tree til Christmas though. It weighted in at 5.54 lbs. Trigger is fantastic and the stock feels really nice. I think I will really like it. |

Congrats on the Fieldcraft purchase brother! They are fantastic rifles, one of the very best hardcore hunting rifles available today. They have very well thought out specs - great trigger, well done bedding, quality stock, longer than normal mag box, proper barrel twists, well balanced...a true rifleman’s rifle. I love mine! There is nothing I would change about it.

When I get her scoped I will get some target shooting done and post some pics. From everything I have read they can be real shooters.

Those appear to be close to a perfect all around hunting rifle. Is the bottom “metal” actually aluminum or polymer? How about the magazine. I actually prefer plastic for those.

There is no bottom metal, other than the trigger guard. And it is metal, likely aluminum. It has an internal magazine. I believe it is metal internal, but I only looked for a moment.

Optomechanically, Razor HD LH is probably a little better than VX-5HD, but the differences are not very significant. However, with its covered turrets HD LH is not set-up for turret twisting. VX-5HD is much better for that. I think there will be some announcements at SHOT show right up this alley, so if I were you, I would use whatever is on hand and wait a little bit. ILya
