Well, I fell into a solution that looks like it'll work pretty good for me. I've been putting these neat 2-7x33s on Ruger No. 1A rifles using Warne medium height QD rings. Warne doesn't offer a low height for the No. 1. A big-honking scope just doesn't look right on this rifle, IMHO. And Jack O’Connor did most all of his scope shooting with a fixed 4X. I guess that kinda dates me. I saw that SWFA had the VX-3i 3.5-10x40 on sale. My concern was would I have to get high height mounts. I just got the scope in and it looks like a medium height will accommodate the 40mm objective. I'm going to put this scope on a No. 1A and put the 2-7x33 on a new No. 1 RSI. Thanks again for the input and maybe some of this information will be useful to somebody else. |

Little late to the party, butI would highly suggest the Vortex Diamondback 2-7x32. I have one on my Ruger 10-22. Its perfect for that little gun.

Leupold has concatenated their lower end product lines into the VX-Freedom, so if you want the same exact scope, try VX-Freedom:
If you are willing to venture into other brands, there are several excellent lightweight scopes out there, like SWFA's 2.5-10x32 Ultralight (assuming your rifle is not a boomer requiring lots of eye relief) and Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32 that are bit more expensive than the Leupold, but are better scopes. On the lower priced end of things, I really like Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35 and Burris Fullfield E1 2-7x35. ILya

In the past I've purchased Leupold Vari-X I scopes for my mid-range hunting rifles and been pleased. Moderately priced and good quality. Those seem to have disappeared. I'm a Leupold fan but willing to try others of comparable quality and service (lifetime guarantee, etc.). Specifically I'm looking for a 2x7x33mm. Any suggestions? |
